Getting Things Done (GTD): Cognitive Load and System Optimization

The human brain is a powerful tool for processing information, generating ideas, and solving problems. However, it is a poor tool for storing lists of tasks, appointments, and project details.   3. Organize: Put actions onto categorized lists (such as @computer, @phone, or @calls) based on execution contexts.
  4. Reflect: Periodically review lists (e.g. during a weekly review) to update the system and ensure alignment.
  5. Engage: Select and execute the next task based on context, available time, energy, and priority.
